Moving on in Ministry
Mrs. Cynthia Struckmann has announced her family plans to move north and with God’s guidance continue her ministry through education beginning in the fall of 2017. We thank Mrs. Struckmann for her service to Lutheran High North for the last fourteen years. In that time she has taken on many roles both in and out of the classroom. She and her family became widely known as a jazz band in and of their own. With the many gifts and talents they have, we know the community they go to will greatly benefit from their ministry both in education and music. We pray that God continues to bless their family and his ministry through their service.
Mrs. Mary Heath has also announced her retirement earlier this year. Mrs. Heath also served in many capacities over the years. From softball coach to Dean of Students and eventually to college counseling Mrs. Heath has served our community for over twenty-five years. She will now have more time to spend with family and grandchildren giving Christian guidance as the Matriarch of a growing family.
Both Mrs. Heath and Mrs. Struckmann will be missed on our campus, yet we know God continues to grow his church through Excellence in Education and Meaningful Ministry at Lutheran High North. We wish both of these wonderful women of God the best of luck in their next adventures in life.
Lutheran High North would like to announce three new additions to their staff.
Mr. Joe Cales is filling several roles this year at Lutheran High North. Joe has been hired on to help head up technology at LHN, take on responsibilities in the classroom as a teacher, and as a college counselor. Joe was formerly a Chemistry teacher at YES Prep High School. Joe is a graduate of Oral Roberts University, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Chemistry. Joe was a Division I Soccer player during his college days, and upon graduation, traveled to Shanghai, China where he worked as Assistant Youth Director and Creative Director at Abundant Grace International Church. After five years, he returned to Houston to pursue his teaching certification. Joe is an accomplished musician and will lend his talents to chapel music this coming year.
Mr. Matthew Fick graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska in 2007 and received his Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in Language Arts. From Concordia, Matthew took his first position at the Concordia English Language Academy in Minhsiung, Taiwan. In 2009, he began teaching at Concordia Middle and High School in Minhsiung, Taiwan. Matthew expressed an interest in Lutheran High North’s opening of a position to teach theology and lead chapels on campus. After interviews with several candidates Matthew’s passion and experience led our school to extend a call to Matthew to teach Theology and Geography beginning in the fall of 2017.
Douglas Erickson is also a graduate of Concordia University in Seward Nebraska. Douglas holds Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a Math Concentration and a Computer Science Supplement Endorsement, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. After graduating from Concordia, Douglas took a position at the Lutheran High School in Elk Grove, California. Douglas assisted in many different sports from Girls Basketball to assistant Soccer coach. He took his math team to a 3rd place finish in the Sacramento area. His special interests lie in athletics of all types, the outdoors, technology, band and playing the piano. He assisted in the music program of his church as a choir member and trumpet player.
All three of these young men came highly recommended by their former administrators and others in their fields of study. We welcome them into our LHN family as they begin to experience life each and every day as a Lion. And as we all know; Every Day is a Great Day to be a Lion!
